Irish Legends

I've been scouting around my archive again and came across some work that I shot on a Bronica ETRSi which was de riguer circa late 80s probably because Graham Watson used one. They were big and heavy and slow to load but the quality was better than the 35mm bodies. Loading whilst on the back of a swaying motorbike was always interesting. Anyway, here is the man Sean Kelly pre start of a stage of the Tour of Britain. I love the down tube shifters and Mavic brake levers. And no under bartape cables here. Kelly shunned the new technology for a while as we know. But he still sported the Avocet computer. Very of its time. Then we have fellow countryman Stephen Roche in the start hut and ready for the countdown. Campagnolo Delta for Roche, a man for the big Tours, as opposed to Kelly who savoured the arduous one day Classics. Roche is sporting his 1987 World Champions stripes, so I think this must have been shot a year later. Both images were shot on Kodak Ektachrome transparency film and I am constantly blown away by the quality that comes off my humble scanner. Enjoy!
