Drum roll........here it is. At least I know it is one from the series I shot at this location. It is either the Milk Race or the final stage crit from the Kelloggs Tour of Britain. And it is 1988, so digital is just a word in the dictionary, and a wristwatch for dweebs. The racers are hammering down Southwark Street, SE1 before switching left to go over Blackfriars Bridge, up Fleet Street and the Strand and then across Westminster Bridge. I was on a rooftop garden I knew was accessible because my offices in the IPC magazines building (Kings Reach Tower) were close by. I preferred the 'hall of mirrors' look (check out the big leg on that kid!) to a conventional shot of the pack and so did Bicycle Action Magazine which ran the pic and put me on the road to a career in action photography. This was shot on good old Fuji transparency but I'm not going to break the mount just to see if it was Provia or Velvia; the slide may turn to dust in my hands!!
very Gilbert and George ;-)
